How to take pictures of lips and tongues

Lips

Using both index fingers, pull the lip up to the nose. You may find it easier to use a “pinching grasp” by using your thumbs. Use your other fingers to help stabilize the jaw and chin to minimize head movement. Try to get the outer skin to touch the nostrils as seen in the picture.

Tongue

Using both index fingers, press deeply into the squishy part under the tongue and lift up as high as you can. Your two fingers will be no more than an inch apart. While holding the tongue up, use your remaining fingers to push down on the chin. This helps keep the mouth open and minimize head movement.
